Race predictor

Predict your time at any standard distance

The Riegel formula (1981) is the most cited race-time predictor in distance-running literature. Given one race result, it estimates your time at any other distance — assuming similar aerobic fitness and pacing discipline.

It's a ceiling estimate. Fueling, terrain, weather, and race-specific endurance will move the real number. Use this to set a realistic A-goal, not a guarantee.

Riegel's 1981 formula uses k=1.06. Push to 1.07–1.08 when predicting much longer races than your base (e.g. 5K → marathon).
